The Human Rights Arts and Film Festival in Sydney
The Human Rights Arts and Film Festival is in its 2nd year and has now grown into a nationwide festival. The vision of the founders of the event was to make human rights accessible.
The Sydney program will run from Thursday, 4 December – Sunday, 7 December 2008 and will include films, music, speakers and action hubs. Opening night will be hosted by Corrine Grant – comedian, writer, performer but also member of the Actors for Refugees – and will also include performances by The Isabel Fire and The Sydney Street Choir. The Honourable Justice Michael Kirby – Justice of the High Court of Australia, human rights campaigner as well as being awarded a Human Rights Medal by the Australian Human Rights Commission - will present on Saturday, 6 December.
You will also have the opportunity to speak to Australian human rights organisations such as Oxfam, Amnesty International, AID/WATCH, Caritas and The Edmund Rice Centre. There will be Action Hubs in the foyer of the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, where you can engage and interact.
