Get along to the 5th annual Organic Expo & Green Show and learn all you can about ‘organic living’. The Expo will run from Friday, 24 July until Sunday, 26 July. It is open to the public on Saturday, 25 July and Sunday 26 July 2009, with Friday for Trade Only.

With 150 plus exhibitors from Australia and overseas, thousands of products and services that will delight your taste buds, interactive demonstrations and interesting presentations, plus the lifestyle show embracing sustainable and practical living options, this event is not to be missed. Enjoy cooking demonstrations from Kylie Kwong and Tobie Puttock and learn how to green your garden with Gardening Australia’s Jerry Colbey-Williams.

Greenfest 5-7 June 2009: Brisbane Botanic Gardens

Kicking of on World Environment Day 2009, Greenfest in Brisbane is Australia’s largest green festival. Celebrate and be energised with 50 Musicians and a line up of 50 speakers including the leader in eco-fashion Summer Rayne Oakes and the Australian Chef of the Year, Justin North.

Enjoy fresh films – the Byron Bay Film Festival will show films on Friday 5 June and the Heart of Gold International Film Festival will screen movies on Saturday, 6 June – and check out the Tesla Roadster at the Green Motor Show.

How can you help to reduce greenhouse gases? What solutions are available? What systems can be designed that make a real impact? What does a healthy system look like? What role does each of us play in the “big picture”?

Well, come along to the Innovation Climate Challenge Workshop and discuss your ideas, develop and share new ideas, expand your innovation abilities and work with others to co-create solutions to climate change. You will use tools, foresight methods and sustainability principles to develop rapid prototypes of your concepts and compete for awards.

Bring your friends, colleagues and clients and have fun while learning in an innovative and creative environment. You do not need any prior knowledge, just a willingness to explore ideas.

Join us and learn about our work in Peru where we train and employ over 200 women in impoverished areas in Peru. With your help we can continue to support them and increase the number of women we empower with a skill for life.

To conclude the Fairtrade Fortnight 2009 celebrations in Western Australia, come along and hear a range of local artists play at the Perth Oxfam Store. Soak up the live music and entertainment. The entry fee is by donation. It is wonderful that all of the money raised will go to the Solomon Islands Safe Drinking Project being organised by the Fair Trade Collective WA.

Come along to the Fair Trade Fiesta at City Farm in Perth on World Fair Trade Day. The 5 hour Fiesta is action packed kicking off with the City Farm Organic Market. There will be over 20 Market Stalls and Fair Trade video presentations, not to mention delicious Fair Trade Chocolate Fondue! Enjoy the Elemento Latin-Andes Music, Drum Making Workshops, Fair Trade coffee and tea tastings as well as the Fair Trade Speakers Corner with presentations – What is Fairtrade?, Fair Trade Labelling and Ways to Make Great Fairtrade Coffee. Fair Trade Fortnight 09: The Very Short Film Festival

To kick off Fair Trade Fortnight 2009 in Sydney, this Saturday night is the premier screening, announcement of winners and presentation of prizes for The Very Short Film Festival. Some budding film makers have put together a couple of short films highlighting what’s going on in the cocoa industry to raise the awareness of child labour and slavery. Get ready to see some thought provoking flicks.

The night starts at 7pm. Fair Trade snacks, tea and coffee are on sale for a bargain price of $2. Go along and join in the fun!

Fair Trade Fortnight 09: Fair Trade Fair in Northmead, Sydney

Come along and join in the fun at the Fair Trade Fair on Sunday, 17 May 2009. Being held during Fairtrade Fortnight, this event will promote awareness of Fairtrade products and where to find them, empowering people to make consumer choices that are ethical and provide a better future for producers around the world.

Last year around 1500 people from our community came along, including our mayor and local MP!

There will be a fantastic range of stalls selling Fairtrade products, such as coffee and chocolate, as well as fairly traded goods such as handicrafts and handmade clothing and children’s toys. Try our sampling table to discover the various Fairtrade teas and chocolates.

Our Fair will also feature live music, fun activities for the kids, and useful information about how you can make a difference for farmers and producers around the world.

There will also be food and drinks for sale, including a range of lunch options. A number of these menu items will highlight creative ways to use Fairtrade food products! Our café area will feature delicious Devonshire teas, and fabulous espresso coffee made by Scott Callaghan, the 2007 Australian Barista Championship. Scott is also a passionate advocate for justice and ethical practices within in the coffee industry.

Come along to our Fair Trade Fair – taste, see and experience the world of Fairtrade – and be inspired to make a difference!
