Shan Ali of the Grameen Foundation Australia explains the concept of micro-credit and the principles which underpin the operation of the Grameen Bank, a group providing micro-credit loans. Founded by Professor Muhammad Yunus, winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, the bank provides credit to the poorest of the poor in rural Bangladesh without any collateral.

Great to hear from you and thank you for your interest. I have had a look at their
Australian website and cannot see any opportunities for volunteering, however, I
would suggest that you give them a call. All of their contact details are on their
website at http://www.grameen.org.au/

Grameen Foundation in the philipppines does not serve its purpose because they have granted loans to the employees of the University Eastern Philippines with an interest of 1.5 percent per month
